Cuprum Metal’s novel technology works by circumventing the passivation layer effect, allowing the direct oxidation of copper in preference to sulfur and thereby allowing leaching to occur rapidly in very high yield. This circumvents the need for rock eating and iron oxidizing microbes (known as lithotrophs and ferroxidants) to break down the ore allowing Cuprum Metals' technology to leach in minutes rather than days.
